StarNode Art & Design: A Handcrafted Vision

The StarNode art direction is the result of a year-long creative process, where the team’s in-house artist meticulously drafted, designed, and hand-painted hundreds of unique items, characters, and environments. Rooted in traditional illustration techniques and refined through digital workflows, each piece was developed to ensure aesthetic depth, thematic consistency, and immersive world-building within the StarNode universe.

Inspired by Legendary Artists such as Akira Toriyama, Michael Whelan, Frank Frazetta, and Keith Parkinson, the StarNode team sought to blend dynamic character expressions, atmospheric sci-fi landscapes, and bold, high-fantasy aesthetics into a cohesive visual language. The result is an expansive collection of weapons, armor, and artifacts, each hand-rendered with fine details that reflect the futuristic ambitions of the game's factions.

The Artistic Process: From Concept to Inscription

Initial Sketching & Drafting

• Every item, character, and environment began as a traditional hand-drawn sketch to capture the initial form and composition.

• Attention was given to character silhouettes, weapon proportions, and armor configurations to maintain visual clarity and balance in gameplay.

Refinement & Digital Painting

• Sketches were digitally refined in Procreate and Inkscape.

• The artist employed cel-shading techniques to enhance the anime-like feel of each piece, avoiding overly mechanical or sterile designs.

Color Theory & Palette Development

• Color schemes were carefully hand-selected and adjusted to reflect the unique attributes of each StarNode class.

• For example, you will see dark reds and deep blues for our War Fighter class, whereas Node Runners will have purple hues and Metaminds teal.

Finalization & Blockchain Integration

• Once the designs are complete, each item is prepared for on-chain inscription using optimized formats to maintain quality.
