Character Attributes

Character Attributes & On-Chain Generation

StarNode incorporates a sophisticated 20-sided dice (d20) randomization engine directly embedded within our collection's blockchain architecture. This advanced system generates character attributes through verifiable on-chain processes that mirror the authentic randomization mechanics found in classic tabletop RPGs and trading card games.

Each StarNode character is defined by a five-attribute framework that determines their core traits and capabilities. These attributes are auto-generated with embedded metadata, including species-specific constraints, ensuring balanced and fair gameplay. However, for every ten characters generated, an anomalous character emerges—one that breaks these constraints, adding an element of unpredictability and further enhancing the game’s variety and depth.

Core Attributes

Life Force (L) – Vitality & Endurance

  • Determines overall health and vitality-based action points (VAP) per turn.

  • Governs power sword and heavy armor bonuses.

  • Enhances survivability in close combat and group support roles.

  • Primary Resistance: Corruption

  • Secondary Resistance: Logic

  • Weakness: Psych

Characters with high Life Force are resilient frontline combatants, capable of withstanding heavy damage and inspiring allies to perform better in battle.

Corruption (C) – Dark Matter Manipulation

  • Controls dark matter abilities and corruption-based action points (CAP).

  • Governs Nexium Cube and dark matter staff bonuses.

  • Enables dark matter manipulation and opponent debuffs.

  • Primary Resistance: Psych

  • Secondary Resistance: Stoicism

  • Weakness: Life Force

Characters with high Corruption can bend dark matter to their will, disrupting enemies and altering battlefield conditions with devastating effects.

Logic (Lo) – Intelligence & Tactical Mastery

  • Determines technology use and research-based action points (RAP).

  • Governs gravity staff and drone bonuses.

  • Enables advanced technology use and drone control.

  • Primary Resistance: Life Force

  • Secondary Resistance: Psych

  • Weakness: Stoicism

Characters with high Logic are intellectual tacticians, leveraging high-tech equipment, drones, and strategic planning to dominate the battlefield.

Stoicism (S) – Mental Fortitude & Resistance

  • Controls condition resistance and meditative-based action points (MAP).

  • Governs rifle and medium armor bonuses.

  • Enables precision strikes and resilience against combat conditions.

  • Primary Resistance: Corruption

  • Secondary Resistance: Life Force

  • Weakness: Logic

Characters with high Stoicism are measured, strategic fighters, known for delivering calculated, high-impact attacks while resisting enemy debuffs.

Psych (P) – Charisma & Influence

  • Determines empath-based action points (EAP).

  • Governs pistol and light armor bonuses.

  • Enhances swift combat movement and mind manipulation.

  • Primary Resistance: Logic

  • Secondary Resistance: Stoicism

  • Weakness: Corruption

Characters with high Psych are adaptable and difficult to target, specializing in rapid combat styles, deception, and mental influence over opponents.

Resistance System

Each attribute has a resistance formula that determines how effectively a character can reduce incoming damage from specific attacks.

  • Two resistances (primary and secondary)

  • Two weaknesses

  • One neutral interaction

Resistance Formula: Damage Reduction = (Primary Resistance × 0.3) + (Secondary Resistance × 0.15)

Hit Point (HP) System

The HP system aligns with StarNode’s item mechanics, weapons, and strategic gameplay, creating challenging yet balanced scenarios where class roles and attributes define survivability.

Base HP by Class

Each class begins with a base HP, reflecting their combat specialization and ability to endure damage.

Attribute Contributions to HP

Only a character’s primary and secondary attributes contribute to their overall HP, reinforcing the importance of balanced character development.

Dice Roll Modifier

The d20 dice system introduces an element of randomness, ensuring each character build remains unique.

  • Low Rolls (1–7): No penalty or bonus.

  • Medium Rolls (8–14): No adjustment.

  • High Rolls (15–20): Add 10% to total calculated HP.

HP Calculation Formula

Final HP = Base HP + (Primary Attribute × Contribution) + (Secondary Attribute × Contribution) + Shield from Logic + Dice Roll Modifier

Example HP Calculations

War Fighter Example

  • Base HP: 110

  • Primary Attribute: Life Force (15 points) → 15 × 6 = 90

  • Secondary Attribute: Stoicism (10 points) → 10 × 4 = 40

  • Dice Roll: 18 (+10% bonus)

Total HP Calculation: (110 + 90 + 40) × 1.10 = 264 HP

MetaMind Example

  • Base HP: 75

  • Primary Attribute: Logic (12 points) → 12 × 2 = 24 HP, 36 Shield

  • Secondary Attribute: Psych (8 points) → 8 × 4 = 32

  • Dice Roll: 6 (No adjustment)

Total HP Calculation: 75 + 24 + 32 = 131 HP, 36 Shield

Conclusion

StarNode’s attribute system introduces deep strategic complexity, where every decision—from character builds to combat strategies—is influenced by on-chain attributes. By executing all randomization logic at the contract level, StarNode achieves true decentralized character generation where each attribute roll is both provably fair and permanently recorded on the blockchain, creating a universe of strategically diverse characters.
